Cravens in the Civil War from Carroll County, GA

This book contains the scanned images for the Civil War records as received by the Archives for the children of John Craven and Elizabeth Smith.   It contains the pension files as well as the widow pensions.
William S. Craven lost his oldest son during the Battle at Vicksburg.  James William Craven was the first man to die in that battle.
Andrew Jackson Craven was captured at Vicksburg, MS on July 4, 1863 and was paroled four days later on July 8.  He suffered wounds at the Battle of Atlanta on July 22, 1864 and died shortly thereafter.
James K. P. Craven, John S. and Wilson Lumpkin Craven were also prisoners of war during Vicksburg and were paroled on July 8th.  Wilson was wounded during the Battle of Franklin (Nashville TN) on Dec 16, 1864.  He had his left index finger shot off.  He was at home on wounded furlow at close of the war.
